X-Yachts – Xp 44
About
A highly optimised hull shape offers exemplary performance in a range of wind conditions, on all angles of sail, under both ORC and IRC handicap systems. Key elements of the hull design include reduced upright beam and wetted surface area, while the transom shape ensures that as windspeed builds and the boat powers up, the overall waterline length increases for additional speed.
Details
Exterior
The Xp 44 deck layout has been designed for ease of sail handling and manoeuvres whether racing or cruising. Standard features include a below deck furling drum (with furling line led back to halyard winch), low friction racing blocks, large self-tailing winches, and adjustable jib cars and tracks, while there is also the option of powered winches. All halyards and trim lines are concealed below deck and led aft to self-tailing coachroof winches. The main-sheet is led along the boom to the gooseneck, down to deck-recessed blocks, then below the side decks to dedicated winches within easy reach of the helmsman for safe, stress-free short-handed sailing.
Hatches and windows
The Xp 44 deck hatches, portlights and windows are carefully selected for a flush fitting. Advanced design hinge mechanisms on the opening coachroof windows ensure there are no fittings or bolts visible from the outside, yet allowing ventilation and increased light down below.
Cockpit furniture
The inventive optional cockpit table folds neatly away into its own recess in the cockpit sole, enabling a swift change from functional sailing area to stylish entertaining zone. Additionally, there is a designated recess for the sprayhood framework and canvas, a specially designed ‘garage’ for the washboard, and a built-in halyard bin for rope tails for a clutter-free, safe and smart cockpit and coachroof area that is a pleasure to sail or relax in.
Multi-function transom
The optional folding transom creates a secure stern area or a teak-topped swim platform with telescopic swim ladder. Liferaft storage is also integrated into the cockpit sole while there is ample additional storage easily accessible in the cockpit lockers. Adjustable foot-chocks ensure the helmsman may enjoy a perfect steering position, with a sense of security as well as a clear view forward during manoeuvres and close sailing situations.
Innovative Bowsprit
The Xp models were conceived as true dual-purpose yachts. The guiding principle is that the Xp 44 should be highly competitive when sailed with a full crew and also easily handled by a couple or family. It should be optimised for racing under major handicap rating systems, but equally suited to a relaxed weekend cruise or a longer blue-water passage. Key to this adaptability is the multi-functional bowsprit, which offers four variations. The standard fixture is a GRP cowl with integrated anchor fitting. This allows for asymmetric ‘Code’ sails and similar to be flown from a fixed tack point, whilst ensuring the steel anchor roller with electric windlass are easily accessible. Two other popular options are a carbon bowsprit in either white painted finish or clearcoat black, with the additional option of an integrated anchor fitting. The sprit enables a full sail wardrobe of asymmetric spinnakers and reaching Code Zeros to be carried, particularly when racing under IRC. The anchor fitting is neatly concealed under the sprit. A fourth option of a plain GRP cowl is offered, particularly for boats which may race under ORC. In addition to all of the above, a symmetric spinnaker pole can be carried for further flexibility.
Interior
The Xp 44 interior is offered in a three cabin layout, which benefits from exemplary use of light and space. Ample natural light from the flush-mounted hatches and opening portlights creates a welcoming space throughout. A choice of high quality interior finishes allow owners to create an interior that is both elegant and practical, with high quality fittings. The secure galley is arranged in an L-shaped configuration for safe working at sea. A gimballed two-jet gas cooker and cool box are fitted as standard. Options include a three-jet cooker with oven and grill, 65-litre fridge and microwave oven. The saloon table also incorporates concealed storage for bottles and similar items, and is completely removable to facilitate crew movement and sail storage whilst racing.
Layouts
Standard Layout
The Xp 44 also introduced the Xp range’s adaptable new sliding navigation station, supplied as standard, which allows for additional seating or a forward-facing chart table. It is also offered with a fixed chart table option and wooden galley. The three-cabin layout includes symmetrical double aft cabins, a forward cabin with en-suite heads, L-shaped galley (now available in a new wooden finish option as shown above), additional heads accessible from the saloon, and spacious seating area around a removable saloon table. Flush-mounted hatches and stylish LED lighting creates a light and welcoming space, day or night.
Sailplan & Extended Specs
The Xp 44 comes with two rig choices, a standard alloy mast or an optional carbon mast and boom. Both are designed in close co-operation with leading rig development companies and sailmakers, for strength, low-windage and exceptional control.

About
Hot out of the X-Yachts Design Office comes the X4⁰, a forty-foot performance cruising yacht that is just as capable for some serious mileage as it is blasting around the cans at the weekend. The new baby X-Yacht joins the hugely successful and critically acclaimed pure X range. The design philosophy was very clear from the outset – like all our yachts, we place a huge emphasis on giving the owner a superb and comfortable sailing experience, on a yacht that is easy to handle by all the crew. The X4⁰ is currently under full development and is expected to launch early Summer 2019 for sea trials and testing. What a way to celebrate X-Yachts’ 40th Anniversary!
Details
Light, strong and stiff
With the introduction of the X-65 in 2007, X-Yachts started to infuse hulls for performance yachts utilising epoxy resin. Epoxy infusion construction offers fantastic control over the laminate allowing it to be optimised to maximise strength and stiffness, whilst saving weight. In the X4⁰ all weight saved is used to increase the yacht’s stability enabling the crew to have a more relaxed time and to feel safer and more comfortable. The fact, that the hull is cured, baked at high temperatures for almost 24 hours, not only optimises the hull material properties but also minimises the risk of the darker coloured hull surfaces to suddenly start posturing, losing the surface finish. With over 10 years of experience building epoxy infused yachts, X-Yachts took the decision in 2018 to build all models using this technology, one of the only yacht builders to do so.
Construction
At the heart of the X4⁰ is the galvanised steel keel grillage structure. Pioneered by X-Yachts back in 1981, the galvanised steel hull girder offers superb reassurance and safety. Its primary role is to spread keel and mast loads into the hull and it also enables the yacht to withstand extreme shock loads from grounding or an impact with a submersed object. Not only is the keel structure immensely strong, it is also reliable and very easy to inspect for potential damage. Bolted to the steel grillage is the keel with iron fin and heavy lead bulb with moderate draft. There is both a shallow and a deep draft option available.
Deck layout
The standard deck layout comes with: 4 winches, two halyards, self-tacker sheet and control line winches next to the entrance, and two main sheet winches aft of the cockpit’s backrest coamings within reach of the helmsman. The deck has an integrated recessed self-tacker track for an 88% jib. There is an option for coach roof top longitudinal Genoa tracks and two dedicated Genoa sheet winches on top of the cockpit backrest coamings, enabling the Genoa size to go up to 106% for improved light wind performance.
Craftmanship
The interior of the X4⁰ is designed to maximise the space available, creating a functional, safe and stylish user experience below deck. Once again, the interior design will have Danish design flair and carpentry at its very best. The craftsmanship and detailing will be of a very high standard, being both traditional but with a modern appearance. The wooden veneer will be Nordic Oak as standard, with other options on offer.
Layouts
Two Cabin Layout
The two cabin layout has a head compartment with separate shower compartment and features a forward-facing navigation station with full length sofa.
Three Cabin Layout
The three cabin layout has an innovative aft facing chart table that can be neatly stowed out of the way when not in use. The three cabin layout is available from Spring 2020.
Sailplan & Extended Specs
The X4⁰ can sail fast and point high to the wind thanks to its powerful lines, precision moulded composite T keel with a heavy bulb of lead giving a high degree of stability.

X-Yachts – Xc 45
About
Following extensive feedback from a large group of Xc owners, as well as our own experience over the last 10 years, 2019 will see the launch of the ‘X-Yachts 40 Years Anniversary’ edition of the Xc 45. The ‘Anniversary’ edition of the Xc 45 builds upon the success of the Xcruising range with an updated specification implementing improvements from feedback gathered from a fleet of over 300 Xc yachts worldwide.
From this edition of the Xc 45 and onwards, the Xc models are built using epoxy infusion in the hull. X-Yachts hulls are post-cured or “oven-baked” to improve structural properties of the composite. Epoxy resin has higher mechanical and thermal stability than traditional polyester resins. Added value to this production method is weight reduction.
Exterior upgrades include new optional jib self-tacker design, composite bowsprit and new colourways. Interior upgrades include Nordic oak furniture and new upholstery types, cushion design and new interior fittings throughout. Systems upgrade highlights include new tank displays showing remaining volume in litres and upgraded ambient lighting.

Exterior
The X4⁹ utilises vacuum infused epoxy lamination, giving the ability to save weight. This is paramount to increase the weight of the lead keel bulb, lowering the centre of gravity, assisting the hull to drive through the waves. This is key to delivering a stiff yacht without the keel draft being extreme, enabling the X4⁹ to moor in shallower waters. The hull is available in a number of colourways and is oven baked, enabling the option of dark topsides without the risk of surface deformities. The hull topsides include six large portlights, with a further 8 openable coachroof portlights on deck for optimum light and ventilation. In addition to this the forward face of coachroof is fitted with curved toughened glass, maximising interior light. All of these combined make below deck feel light, airy and spacious. For when you are at anchor, there is a large electrical operated bathing transom door, which allows easy access to the water, and a dinghy garage for storing up to a 2.7 m inflatable.
Deck recessed track for selftacking Genoa
Designed for sailing in comfort and at ease, with a deck recessed track for a selftacking Genoa, single Genoa sheet led to a cockpit winch
Optional longitudinal Genoa tracks
